Biography

In the contest of slam dunks in the framework of the match of all stars BEKO PBL 2011

In 2005, Green won a slam dunk contest at an all-star game in the American School League. After graduating from high school, he decided not to go to college and put forward his candidacy for the NBA draft , in which he was chosen by the Boston Celtics club under number 18. In the first season for the Celtics, Green was the third easy forward of the team after Paul Pierce and Wally Shcherbyak , so he played very little, having spent only 32 games in the regular season. In the second season, Green received significantly more playing practice, when Pierce and Scherbyak were injured, he successfully replaced them in the starting five. On average, for the game in the second season, Green scored 10.4 points, made 2.6 rebounds and 1 transmission. On February 17, 2007, Green won the NBA Slam Dunk Competition, defeating Nate Robinson , Dwight Howard and Tyrus Thomas [1] .

On July 31, 2007, Green, along with Al Jefferson , Ryan Gomez , Theo Ratcliffe and Sebastian Telfair, were exchanged for the Minnesota Timberwolves club for Kevin Garnett [2] . At Timberwolves, Gerald was a deep reserve player, playing just 29 games for the club. In 2008, Green again participated in the NBA Slam Dunk Competition, reached the finals in which he lost to Dwight Howard, who won with his famous “ Superman Dunk” [3] . On February 21, 2008, Green was traded at Houston Rockets for Kirk Snyder. [4] He played only one game for the Rockets, and on March 8, 2008, the club management terminated the contract with him [5] . In the summer of 2008, becoming an unlimited free agent , Green signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Mavericks club [6] . In the 2008/2009 season, he spent only 42 games (6 of them in the playoffs) and left the team in the summer of 2009.

Unable to find a new club in the NBA, Green in mid-December 2009 signed a contract with the Russian club Lokomotiv-Kuban until the end of the 2009/2010 season [7] . In March 2010, he participated in a slam dunk contest in the framework of the Final Four Cup of Russia, losing to James White (Spartak St. Petersburg). In July 2010, he moved to Samara’s Krasnye Krylia , signing a one-year contract with the club [8] . In March 2011, once again demonstrating excellent jumping ability and a creative approach, he became the best in the slam dunk contest as part of the VEKO PBL stars match [9] .

In October 2011, Green signed a contract with the Chinese club Foshan Dralions [10] . December 13 of the same year, he became a player in the Los Angeles Lakers [11] , but after the pre-season training camp he was expelled from the team. After being expelled, he played for the NBA Los Angeles Di-Fenders Development League team; in February 2012, he was recognized as the most valuable player in the match of all the stars of the Development League. February 27 signed a 10-day contract with the NBA club “ New Jersey Nets ” [12] .

On July 27, 2013, he was traded to the Phoenix Suns along with Miles Plumley and the peak of the first round of the 2014 draft pick for Luis Skolu [13] .
