Geographical position

Mountain Naked Stone is located on the territory of the municipality "the city of Nizhny Tagil" " Sverdlovsk region , on the outskirts of the city of Nizhny Tagil . From the mountain flows the river Rudyanka . The height of the mountain is 365 meters above sea level [1] .

Description

The mountain, located on the western border of Nizhny Tagil , consists of diorite and diorite shale [2] . The western slope of the mountain is covered mostly by coniferous forest, and on the eastern, gentler slope, alpine meadows extend. At the top of the mountain there is a rocky outcrop of fancy shapes up to 10 meters in height with a convenient place for a campfire at its foot, from the meadows. From the side of the forest, cliffs hang over a lowland covered with trees. From the meadow to the rocks leads a path that runs along the ridge and between the rocks, reaching the very top of a small area between the rock blocks at the very top of the mountain. From the top there is a good view of the central part of the city, as well as on the Fox Mountain, the pond, on the High Mountain with the ledges of the Main quarry and dumps [1] .

History

N.S. Popov, in his book “ Economic Description of the Perm Province ” in 1811, wrote that the Naked Stone Mountain, located 4 versts from the Nizhny Tagil plant and at about 50 fathoms high, got its name because there is no forest on it [1] .

Mikhail Dmitriev, the overseer of the Nizhny Tagil Mining and Industry School, who in 1909 made an excursion with students on the Naked Stone gives a description of how the mountains are 4 miles from Nizhny Tagil, 50 meters from the level of the pond. On top of it is almost always wind. You can easily hide from the wind. To get drunk with tea, one has only to go to the east side, where a stone with two steep walls protects the site from the wind, and the other two sides - a forest. On such a place protected from the wind lies a stone in the shape of a cube, replacing the walking table. The stone overlooks the whole Nizhny Tagil plant, the village of Gorbunovo and the peatlands ” [1] .

Local historian I.A. In 1985, Orlov told about a local legend that “ Elim Pavlovich Demidov was fond of chess and for his arrival at the Tagil factories in 1907, the local factory bosses, knowing the owner’s fascination, ordered him to cut two armchairs in a rock on the shihanee especially for him , and between them - a chessboard. The choice of location was very successful. From here, as in the palm of your hand, you can see the whole Nizhny Tagil with its plants, its surroundings and west to the horizon - the Ural Mountains. Here Elim Pavlovich and played with someone. The chairs and the chessboard are still preserved, but they have already been corrupted by time, and by amateurs to leave their initials for memory ... ” [1] .

Archaeological finds

Tagilskiy ethnographer S.N. In 1909, shards of pottery with an ornament, burnt bones of humans and animals, a clay ornament and a bronze three-blade arrow were found with axles. In the Iron Age and the Middle Ages, there was a sanctuary and an altar on top of the Bare Stone [1] .

On the southern slope of the mountain, at the exit point of porphyry alevrotufs , in 1954, archaeologist P.E. Rickert found traces of the activity of people of the Mesolithic era - the Golokamen workshop . Hundreds of thousands of flakes , cores and blanks for cores are scattered over an area of about 7,000 square meters. Here primitive people made primary splitting and processing of stones. The tools from the stone extracted here are found in abundance on the Mesolithic sites 6-5 millennium BC. e. within a radius of 30 kilometers [3] . Products from Golokamenskoye raw materials were found in the sanctuary on the Dyrovaty kamne on the Chusovaya River [1] .

In 1984, archaeologists under the leadership of Yu.B. Serikova near the Naked Stone discovered a house for smelting ore. The total number of archaeological finds on the Gol Kamen is already more than 20 thousand [1] .
