Olivetti Research Laboratory

Olivetti Research Laboratory ( eng. Olivetti Research Laboratory ) - a research institution in the field of computer computing and telecommunications . Founded in 1986 by Herman Hauser And Andy Hopper .

History

After purchasing Acorn Computers' Olivetti in 1985 , Herman Hauser, co-founder of Acorn, became vice president of research at Olivetti and headed laboratories in the United States and Europe . In 1986, Hauser and Andy Hopper founded the Olivetti Research Laboratory (ORL) in Cambridge ( England ). Hopper became director of the laboratory.

In 1988, Hauser left Olivetti. In 1997, the lab changed its name to Olivetti & Oracle Research Lab . In January 1999, it was bought by AT & T and became known as AT & T Laboratories Cambridge .

AT & T Laboratories Cambridge has been the leading European communications research and engineering laboratory for many years. At the international level, the laboratory is recognized as a successful center engaged in advanced research in communication, multimedia and mobile technologies.

As a result of large losses, AT & T revised the structure of research worldwide and Cambridge labs were closed on April 24, 2002.
