Member of World War II. Aircraft mechanic in 1943-1946. At the Komsomol work in the army in 1946-1950. He graduated from MGIMO in 1956.

Diplomatic career

Since 1956 - in the diplomatic service. Translator, editor, head of the Russian translation section of the secretariat of the United Nations Office at Geneva in 1956-1962. Since 1962 - an employee of the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, head of the department in 1969-1973. USSR Ambassador to the Republic of Tunisia in 1973-1981. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the RSFSR , Russian Federation in 1981-1996. Since February 1996, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, consultant on foreign policy issues of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
