Kremenki - a city (from December 28, 2004) in the Zhukovsky district of the Kaluga region of Russia , the center of the urban settlement "City of Kremenki" of the Zhukovsky municipal region.

The population is 10 587 [2] people. (2018). The settlement area is 222.7 hectares.
The city ββof Kremenki with the status of an urban settlement forms the same municipality as the only settlement in its composition [3] .
The city is located on the left bank of the Protva River, at the confluence of the Borovna River, 32 km from the Zhukov District Center , on the border with the Moscow Region , in the immediate vicinity of the city of Protvino .
Content
History
It arose as a settlement near the village of Troitskoye at the beginning of the 18th century . According to the revision of 1721-1722 (the first per capita census of the population of Russia) Kremenki was assigned to Serpukhov uezd and belonged to the ensign of the Preobrazhensky regiment Ivan Petrovich Dashkov . In the βList of Populated Places of the Kaluga Province β Kremenki is listed as the owner village of Tarusa Uyezd , in which there were 28 yards, 204 people lived and a flat was located [4] .
In 1989, received the status of an urban-type settlement [5]
In accordance with Art. 1 of the Law of the Kaluga Region dated 12.28.2004 No. 6-OZ, the status of βworking villageβ of the settlement βKremenkiβ was changed to the status of βcityβ.

As of January 1, 2019, the city was in the 903th place out of 1,115 [16] cities of the Russian Federation in terms of population [17] .
Economics
The population is mainly employed at the enterprises of the cities of Protvino , Serpukhov and Serpukhov district .
The city also has a well-developed trading system. Since the Vyatichi sanatorium and the Robin Hood children's camp located on the site of the Kurchatovets base are located on the territory of the city, the city economy is partly focused on serving the flow of tourists from Moscow and the Moscow region.
There is a production of thermal insulation coatings. There is a plant for the processing of seafood, fish and fish semi-finished products.
Attractions
In Kremenki there is a military historical museum, a sanatorium "Vyatichi", South Borovninsky Lighthouse , a children's camp "Robin Hood", a museum named after E.R.Dashkova .
Nearby (across the bridge over the Protva River) there is a temple in which Ekaterina Dashkova is buried, the ruins of her Troitskoye estate are the remains of buildings and a water mill.
