Biography

His brother is journalist Philip Taubman.

Graduate of the Bronx High School of Science . In 1962 he became a bachelor of Harvard University . He received a master ’s degree from Columbia University in 1965 , where he received a PhD degree in anthropology in 1969 . Trained at MSU . [3]

His wife, Jane A. Taubman , is also a professor at Amherst College . She teaches Russian .

2004 Pulitzer Prize winner in the Biography or Autobiography nomination for the 2003 biography Khrushchev: The Man and His Era . [4] For this work, the author was awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship in 2006 [5] and the National Book Critics Circle Prize in 2003 . [6] In 2008, the book was published in Russia as part of the biographical series “ Life of remarkable people .” [7]

The most important thing that Khrushchev did, says Taubman, was against Stalin and Stalinism and released millions of victims of his terror from prisons [8] .
