iCore Virtual Accounts is a computer program for virtualizing the Microsoft Windows XP operating system [1] . The use of such virtual machines as an isolated environment for working with browsers, the installation of various computer programs allows you to protect the operating system from infection by viruses, and the incompatibility of computer programs.

A feature of such virtual machines is virtualization at the kernel level of the Microsoft Windows operating system, which means there is no need for virtualization of the operating system drivers. The consequence of this is the minimal overhead of running such virtual machines. The disadvantage of such virtualization software is the lack of the ability to create virtual machines for Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, and other operating systems other than Microsoft Windows .

Principle of Operation
The iCore Virtual Accounts computer program allows you to create, run and delete virtual machines, each such virtual machine is associated with a Microsoft Windows user account. [2] Initializing a new virtual machine takes about two minutes. Like a regular account, the new iCore virtual machine allows you to work with pre-installed programs on a real computer. But any changes to these programs (updating, uninstalling), installing new programs, working with documents - all this is saved on the virtual disk, that is, these changes are not visible either in the real computer or in other virtual computers. [3]
Related Technologies
Computer programs that also implement the principle of kernel level virtualization: Linux Vserver, FreeBSD Jail , Virtuozzo for Linux, FreeBSD and Windows; Solaris Containers for Solaris and OpenSolaris .
