VIZ-Stal LLC was established in 1998 on the basis of the Verkh-Isetsky Plant (VIZ) , built in 1726 by Wilhelm de Genin , the founder of Yekaterinburg , through the allocation of production assets for the production of electrical steels. The basis of the enterprise is the cold rolling shop of transformer steel, built in 1973 on the left bank of the plant. The Italian metal trader Duferco became the strategic partner of the company, and under its control was 92% of VIZ-Steel ^[2] . 100% participation in LLC VIZ-Stal is owned by NLMK Group .

VIZ-Steel is among the five largest world manufacturers of transformer steel - after Nippon Steel ( Japan ), ThyssenKrupp ( Germany ) and AK Steel Holding ( USA ) ^[3] . In 2016, the volume of production amounted to 149 thousand tons. Revenue - 14.7 billion rubles., Net profit - 4.4 billion rubles. 75% of products are exported to 35 countries. The share of VIZ-Steel is 5.2% in the world and 65% in the Russian market for transformer rolled products. ^[four]

The company produces cold-rolled transformer steel with a thickness of 0.23 to 0.50 mm and a width of up to 1000 mm with an electrically insulating coating of various types. About 90% of the rolled steel produced belongs to high brands with improved magnetic properties, including 23% to the premium segment with a reduced level of specific losses. Currently, the VIZ-Steel product line includes eight premium steel grades: NV23S-095L, NV23S-100L, NV27S-100L, NV27S-105L, NV30S-110L, NV23S-100, NV27S-105, NV30S-110.

VIZ-Steel operates the first in the history of the world ferrous metallurgy waste-free water management system ^[5] , which was developed and implemented during the construction of a cold rolling plant. Development in 1981 was awarded the State Prize in the field of technical discoveries.

• In 2008, VIZ-Stal became the winner of the competition among Russian exporters in the nomination “Leader of Russian Foreign Trade” and the winner of the “Customs Olympus-2008” award ^{[6] [7]} .
• In June 2009, Order No. 33 dated June 23, 2009 of Yevgeny Primakov , President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, OOO VIZ-Stal was awarded a Diploma for his contribution to the development of the economy of the Sverdlovsk Region and active foreign economic activity.
• In December 2009, LLC VIZ-Stal became the winner of the competition on energy saving among enterprises of the mining and metallurgical industry of the Sverdlovsk region ^[8] .

• The illumination of the factory cooling towers VIZ-Steel won the contest “Russian Lighting Design — 2009” ^[9] .
• VIZ-Stal has developed and introduced the technology for the production of electrical relay steel for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). ^[10] The company produced about 11 thousand tonnes of low carbon relay steel, from which over 650 different types of magnets were manufactured for particle transport channels from the accelerator to the LHC. Magnets work to date without repair and replacement.
