Story

The protagonist of the game is the US Army lieutenant Mike Powell (Michael Randle Powell the Younger), who serves in the first ranger battalion, and later - an operative in the Strategic Services Department.

The game begins on the territory of North Africa on November 7, 1942 . Immediately after landing in Algeria, a special group under the command of Captain Richards grabs two trucks and heads to the coastal village, but upon arrival, an ambush of enemies kills the entire team, except Powell. Powell continues on to the Reich base, where he rescues Major Jack Grillo and picks up his gear. Major and Lieutenant Powell broke up, Grillo seizes the transport, and Powell makes a diversion in the fleet. He then contacts Grillo, who captured a jeep with a machine gun mounted. Then they go to the German airfield, where they successfully destroy the Stuck dive bombers grounded there. While Grillo is distracting the German troops, Powell sneaks into the bunker, disconnects the Nazis' radio communications and makes his way to the coastal lighthouse to signal the Allied fleet about the beginning of the invasion of Africa. He escapes with Grillo in a truck.

Following the success of the Allies in Africa, Powell and Grillo set off for Norway occupied by Germany to enter Trondheim, where the Kriegsmarine submarine is equipped with the prototype Naxos radar detector. Grillo was the first to reach the base, but was killed in battle by German guards, opening the Front Gate for Powell. Powell makes his way to the base, then disguises himself as a German soldier and enters the loading dock. First he goes to the laboratory, where he destroys the prototype of Naxos. Powell then gains access to the submarine designed to mount the prototype, and detonates it, and then escapes into the air ducts. Then he cuts his way from the base to the railway station, where he is taken by a detachment of allies.

Thanks to Powell's efforts, the threat of German submarines has been neutralized, clearing the way for the Allied invasion of Europe. Powell, as part of the 2nd Rangers Battalion, travels to Charlie's sector in Omaha Beach under the command of Captain Ramsey, where he and his fellow rangers storm the bunkers, despite heavy losses, and capture the coast. He travels to rural areas offshore to help various American units that are attacked by the Nebelwerfer.

Powell is then assigned to go behind enemy lines and receive intelligence on the movement of German troops. After saving the British pilot Joe Baylor, Powell meets with a member of the French Resistance, Manon Baptiste (the main character of Medal of Honor: Underground). She sends him to various sabotage against German hostilities. He then runs into the manor used as a command post, where he steals strategically important enemy documents, including drawings of the new Royal Tiger tank. Powell then escapes from the estate with the help of Manon.

Powell's next mission is to capture the Royal Tiger tank and use it to defend the vital bridge in Brest. After navigating the ruins teeming with snipers, he meets with the American tank crew selected for the mission. Powell and the crew of the tank capture the Royal Tiger and use it to cut through the countryside. Upon reaching Brest, Powell provides cover for the tank to protect the bridge until reinforcements arrive to secure it.

Powell's last mission sends him to Fort Schmerzen, a German mustard gas plant that had previously been sabotaged by Lieutenant James Patterson, but has since been rebuilt for operation, presumably as a prisoner of war camp, but possibly used to produce mustard gas. Powell parachutes into the forest, where he destroys several 37-mm anti-aircraft guns of various types that pursue allied aircraft. He then enters the weapons depot and destroys the StG 44 assault rifle stockpiles (capturing only one sample and weapon drawings), and then destroys the German outpost of communications, cutting off the communications of Fort Schmerzen. Powell then grabs a freight train and, together with a U.S. ranger squad, uses it to arrive at Schmerzen. Upon arrival at Schmerzen, Powell and his fellow rangers storm the fort and release all prisoners of war. Powell then makes his way to the lower levels of Schmerzen, where he discovers that the mustard gas production facilities in the fort are still functioning. He sets up explosives at gas facilities and escapes shortly before Fort Schmerzen is destroyed.

Gameplay

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault is a standard first-person shooter . The player moves through the so-called "corridor levels" and destroys the enemies encountered on the way. Missions include rescue of captives and sabotage .

The game has missions uncharacteristic for such games, which made the project very popular. For example, secretive penetration into enemy territory: a player changes into German uniforms, finds documents and moves almost freely around the enemy’s base. At some levels, missions take place on fast-moving vehicles from which to shoot. In the Tiger Day campaign, in two missions, the player controls the Royal Tiger tank.
