Central College was formed in 1989 as a result of the merger of the Central School of Art and Design, founded in 1896, and the St. Martin School of Art, founded in 1854. The Central College of Art and Design became part of the London Institute in 1986, and a federal body was formed in London. The London Institute received university status and was renamed the London University of the Arts in 2004. In the drama center of London, founded in 1963, and the Byam Shaw School, founded in 1910, the Central College of Art and Design named. St. Martin in 1999 and 2003 as an integral school, supporting their individual chapters and teaching approaches. Central Saint Martins is currently collaborating with a London studio to develop new courses in dance and related disciplines.
