History

The division was formed on June 3, 1944 on the basis of the 77th Marine Rifle Brigade as part of the 19th Army .

In the army from June 3, 1944 to January 12, 1945 [1] .

From the moment of formation, it was in the Kandalaksha direction, in September 1944 it participated in the pursuit of the enemy in the Kandalaksha direction by the troops of the 19th army in the Alakurtti area, then until November 1944 it was on the state border of the USSR.

January 12, 1945 the formation was relocated to Kandalaksha , where it was until the end of hostilities .

In 1955 it was renamed the 54th Infantry Division (not to be confused with the 54th Special Rifle Division), in 1957 it was renamed the 54th Motorized Rifle Division.
