Crazy Races (film, 2005)

The story revolves around recent college graduate Maggie Payton ( Lindsay Lohan ), a former street racer, daughter of the famous racer Ray Payton Sr. ( Michael Keaton ). Maggie wants to go to New York and become an ESPN sports commentator. But these plans are not destined to come true, as she bought herself $ 75 at the Volkswagen ZUK dump. Maggie quickly finds out that this little car has its own mind: a bug, contrary to her will, brings Maggie to the garage where her friend Kevin ( Justin Long ) works. Kevin urges Maggie to take Herbie to a car show where they can buy some spare parts for him. After arriving at the exhibition, Herbie fraudulently forces Maggie to change into the old outfit of a certain Max, who is lying in his trunk. After NASCAR Trip Murphy's three-time winner ( Matt Dillon ) insults Herbie, Herbie has a rear-view mirror scratching Trip’s car and now has to participate in hastily organized street races against Murphy, in which she wins, bypassing Trip’s car at the bump stop. This admires Kevin, who wants Maggie back to the street races, but her father Ray, Sr., who forbade her to race after a serious injury a few years ago doesn’t like it.

Angry Trip wants to take revenge and arranges a two-day street race, the winner of which will race with him and in case of victory will receive $ 10,000. Maggie enters the race in the hope of winning the top prize. Herbie easily overtakes all rivals and gets the opportunity to participate in the final match against Murphy. Trip, looking at the photos, comes to the conclusion that Max is actually Maggie. After meeting with Maggie, Trip offers her a ride in his car. After the trip, Maggie said that she had never seen this car better. Herbie after these words begins depression , and Trip suggests Maggie to change the conditions of tomorrow’s race: the winner does not receive $ 10,000, but the loser’s car. Despite the depression, Herbie still participates in the race and is nearing the finish nose to nose with Trip. Maggie exclaims: "Well, come on, I need his car," after which Herbie stops right before the finish. Trip's assistant takes Herbie away on a tow truck. In the evening, Maggie comes to Trip demanding that he sell her car to her, but Trip says he gave it to Herbie Crash to ride destructive races. Maggie breaks into the arena of destructive races, where she is threatened to be crushed by a monster machine, from which Herbie rescues her. Ray Jr. (Breckin Meyer), whom his father wants to make a racer, he wants to become a drummer and he even has his own band (see the cut scenes and comments of the director on the licensed DVD). After finishing qualifying Ray crashes into the wall and gets a slight injury to his left eye, because of which he will not be able to participate in races. Instead of himself, he nominates Maggie as a candidate and, along with the team, repairs Herbie who was defeated in the destructive races. Herbie participates in the NEXTEL Cup. At the very end, Trip tries to finish off Herbie, but crashes into the fence and turns over to block the road. Herbie has to drive him around the fence. In the end, Herbie wins the race, Maggie kisses Kevin, and Herbie goes on a romantic date with the Yellow Beetle ( VW New Beetle ).
