Toulouse Museum DistributionUnder natural conditions, it grows throughout the Mediterranean region from Morocco and Portugal in the east to Turkey and Egypt, in Madeira and the Canary Islands, as well as in the mountains in the west of Saudi Arabia near the Red Sea. It occurs mainly on the coast.
DescriptionEvergreen monoecious or rarely dioecious shrubs or trees 2-12 m high.
Cones - cones 6-14 mm. in diameter, orange-brown coloration, sometimes with a pinkish waxy coating, and contain 3-8 seeds. The bump matures in the second year. The wood of the tree is resistant to decay. The landings are very decorative.
