Title
Historically, the name of the city was pronounced: Rosenberch ( 1262 ), Rosenberg ( 1369 ), Rosemberg ( 1405 ), Rozmberg ( 1420 ), Rožumbergk ( 1654 ), Rosenberg , Rožmberk ( 1841 ) [2] .
History
The first written mention of the Rožmberk castle, founded by the Vitkovic family on the banks of the Vltava River, on the trade route from Cesky Krumlov to the Austrian Linz , dates back to 1250 . Rožmberk was founded near the castle in 1262 by the Wok of Rožmberk . Even earlier, however, near the lower ford through Vltava there was a village on the way from Netolice to Linz . Soon it was merged with the newly founded town. After in 1302 the pans from Rozmberk inherited the Krumlov Pans , they moved their residence to the Krumlov Castle , continuing to keep Rozmberk behind them. After the death of the last Rolymberg monarch Peter Vok from Rozmberk in 1611, Rozmberk passed into the possession of his nephew Jan Zrinsky, and then to the family of Shvamberkov .
In 1620, the Rozhmberk papacy was confiscated from the Schwemberks for their participation in the uprising of the Czech estates and transferred to the ownership of Karl Buqua and his descendants, who owned it until 1945 .
October 10, 2006 Rožmberk received the status of a city.
Attractions
In addition to the Rožmberk castle, the city has a church of Virgin Mary and St. Nicholas in the square (first mentioned in 1271 , rebuilt in the Gothic style in the second half of the 15th century ), and city houses of the 17th - 18th centuries in the central square.
