Brewery Museum ( German: Altenburger Brauereimuseum ) - a beer and brewery museum in the city of Altenburg , Germany .
History and Description
The museum is located in the oldest brewery in Altenburg, founded in 1871 ( Altenburger Brauerei ). It is located in the premises of the owners of the brewery, built in the second half of the XIX century and restored at the beginning of the XXI century. The exposition is located in five rooms and is a single unit, showing the visitor the whole process of making barley drink - starting from the choice of water and raw materials. A film is shown with explanations about the production of beer at this brewery.
The following rooms present the history of beer production in the Altenburg Brewery, the Altenburg District and Thuringia as a whole. Next, you can see a collection of dishes designed since ancient times for bottling and storage of beer, old beer barrels, bottles and bottles, as well as handicraft tools that were previously used in brewing. The exposition closes with a collection of print ads of the 19th — 20th centuries, concerning beer and brewing.
The museum is adjoined by an old beer house ( Kneipe ), which carefully preserves the atmosphere of the beginning of the 20th century - furniture, dishes, decor, costumes of ober - everything that corresponds to the era of Kaiser Germany.
