Members

76 teams from 52 UEFA associations are participating in the 2010/11 Champions League draw (Liechtenstein clubs do not participate in the tournament because there is no championship in the country). According to the rating of football associations in the UEFA odds table as of the end of the 2008/09 European Cup season [1], a certain number of teams take part in each tournament from the association:

  • associations that took places from 1 to 3 (England, Spain and Italy) - 4 teams each;
  • associations that took places from 4 to 6 (Germany, France and Russia) - 3 teams each;
  • associations that took places from 7 to 15 (Ukraine, the Netherlands, Romania, Portugal, Turkey, Greece, Scotland, Belgium and Switzerland) - 2 teams each;
  • associations that took places from 16 to 53 (37 associations except Liechtenstein) - 1 team each.

  • The Association Champion at number 13 (Scotland) began his performance with the group stage.
  • The champion of the association at number 16 (Denmark) started from the third qualification round (champion qualification).

Qualification

As part of the Champions League qualification, two separate qualifying tournaments are held. The first is for champions who have not received a ticket to the group stage directly. The second is for teams that are not champions of their countries and are not directly qualified in the group stage.

Teams that lose in the third qualifying round of the Champions League will take part in the fourth qualifying round of the Europa League , and the losers in the fourth qualifying round of the Champions League will fall into the group stage of the Europa League.
