Rokita, Jan (theologian)

Jan Rokita (Rokita; died in 1591) - a theologian, born Czech; due to the persecution of Bohemian brothers in the Czech Republic, he moved to Poland, where he headed the communities of Bohemian brothers in Golukhov and Kozmin, and later was chairman of their Greater Poland cathedrals.

In 1570 , Rokita accompanied the embassy, ​​equipped with Sigismund-Augustus to Ivan the Terrible , and in Moscow had a debate with the king about faith, which he described in Polish. The Latin translation of this description was included in the collection of Jan (John) Lasitsky : “De Russorum, Moscovitorum et Tartarorum religione” (Speyer, 1582 ). The Russian text of the response of Ivan the Terrible was opened in 1878 in the library of the Kholm Theological Seminary ; published by A. N. Demyanovich in “Hill.-Warsaw.
