Biography
In 1750, he inherited from his father a place in the House of Lords and soon became the head of one of the strongest factions of the Whig party , fragmented at that time. In 1765, he composed an office that did not enjoy the sympathy of King George III and was not sufficiently unanimous; in 1766, his most talented member, the Duke of Grafton , came out of him, which soon led the ministry to a fall; he was replaced by the Pitt ministry.
In 1782, Rockingham was again prime minister and insisted on the recognition of US independence. However, he did not live to see the conclusion of a peace treaty and died from the complication of a severe cold, having been a prime minister for a little over three months. During the second cabinet of Rockingham, the structure of the cabinet was substantially changed. In particular, the posts of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Internal Affairs appeared, some archaic posts were abolished or permanently removed from the cabinet.
