Pierre Rock ( Fr. Pierre Roques ; July 22, 1685 , Lacon , now Tarn Department - April 13, 1748 , Basel ) - Swiss Protestant theologian . He was the creator and advocate of the concept of rational enlightened pietism .

Biography
The son of a Huguenot merchant who fled from France. He studied in Geneva and Lausanne (including , , , ), then graduated from the University of Basel (1710). Rock is also considered a pupil of , whose son Jean Rudolf Osterwald (1687-1764) served with him in Basel. In 1709 he was ordained a priest and since 1710 he was pastor of the Basel French Church.
Of the writings of Doom, the most significant book is the Evangelical Shepherd ( Fr. Le pasteur évangelique ; 1723), devoted to questions of pastoral service. In addition to his own writings, he edited the Basel edition of the Great Historical Dictionary by Louis Morery (1731-1732).
