The coryfish [1] , or herring kings [2] , or the fish belt [2] ( lat. Regalecidae ) are a family of ray-finned fish of the opaque order. They have a ribbon-like body, the length of which can exceed 9 meters with a trunk width of up to 25 centimeters. Spines in fins and swim bladder are absent. Mouth suction type, retractable and toothless [3] . The family includes only two genera: Agrostichthys and Regalecus . Of these, the genus Herring Kings ( Regalecus ) with two species is more common.

Herring KingsHerring kings or carnivores [4] are pelagic (semi-deep) fish found in warm and moderately warm waters of the Pacific , Atlantic and Indian oceans . Usually reach a length of 5.5 m (with a weight of 250 kg), but specimens are fixed up to 11 m; the herring king is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest living bone fish [5] . Herring kings are sometimes found in shoals of herring , which, apparently, feed on. In this regard, and also thanks to the “crown” formed by the elongated rays of the dorsal fin , they got their name. Meetings of sailors with giant herring kings floating on the surface, and the half-decomposed remains of herring kings thrown ashore, apparently, became the basis of stories about the "sea snake" , which is sometimes described as a monster with a horse's head with a flaming red mane. For such a mane, apparently, the long rays of the dorsal fin, forming a “plume” on the head of the fish, were taken.
AgrostichyAgrostichytes [4] - a very rare genus of fish represented by the only species Agrostichthys parkeri ; to date, only seven specimens have been caught. The maximum length of known specimens is 3 meters. The skin is bare, dotted with hard tubercles. The body color is silver, the dorsal fin is pink, has more than 400 rays. The lateral line consists of elongated plates merging into a continuous tube. Pelagic fish, inhabitants of the open sea in the region of Australia , Tasmania and New Zealand , as well as the southeastern Atlantic Ocean [6] .
