Regenerative cycle

Regenerative cycle - a cycle of a steam turbine installation in which feed water is pre- heated by steam taken from an intermediate stage of a steam turbine before it enters the boiler unit . Heating is realized by means of a special heat exchanger - a regenerative heater .

Cycle Value

The increase in efficiency when applying regeneration is 10-15%. In this case, the heat saving in the cycle increases with increasing initial pressure p 1 steam. This is due to the fact that with an increase in p 1 , the boiling point of water increases, and therefore the amount of heat that can be brought to the water when it is heated with exhaust steam increases. Currently, regenerative heating is used in all large power plants.
