Written in Java . The functions of the graphic shell are performed by the SWT library.
Like programs of this kind, Vuze is designed to quickly distribute files among users, and each client is also a server at the same time (that is, it not only receives data packets, but also sends them to other network clients).
Vuze is distributed under the GNU GPL license .
Localization is available for 52 languages, including Russian , and also has detailed online help in English , French , German and Polish .

Opportunities
- Protocol encryption ;
- Supports anonymous data exchange via I2P , Tor and Nodezilla protocols ; [one]
- Peer exchange technologies and distributed hash tables (DHT) reduce client dependency on the tracker;
- Support for UPnP , NAT Port Mapping Protocol and NAT traversal ensures better performance in local networks;
- ΜTP support;
- The possibility of distribution in super-seeding mode, favoring the early emergence of new distributors;
- Web seeding technology;
- Support for links to P2P content, the so-called magnet links (including bc: // );
- Ability to work through a proxy server ;
- IPv6 support;
- Unicode support;
- Play streaming video .
Versions
There are two branches of the program: the currently developing version of Vuze, which is based on the Azureus core version 2.x, fully compatible with plugins and settings, is designed in the style of the Vuze service (until April 5, 2007, the service was called Zudeo), and also the Azureus 2.5.x version .x, which no longer develops, remaining the last classic without Vuze services.
According to the information from the official website, when choosing a classic design in Vuze, Vuze modules are not loaded into memory.
Since Azureus is built using the Eclipse framework, using the platform-dependent SWT library, you need to select the appropriate distribution file for the platform, for example, for Linux / AMD64 — Azureus_3.0.5.2_linux-x86_64.tar.bz2 . [2]
Modifications
- BitTyrant is a development of the University of Washington to create an effective BitTorrent client. BitTyrant is based on the Azureus 2.5.X code and has an almost identical interface (the “Peers” tab is slightly modified - columns with actions of BitTyrant and statistical data for each of the peers appear in it. The changes also affected the “Help” menu). When the user who launched BitTyrant is connected to the swarm , other participants see a client named “AzureusBitTyrant 2.5.0.0BitTyrant”. The main changes occurred in the download mechanism of the distribution - BitTyrant collects statistical information on peers and on the basis of this it decides whether to download or distribute the file. According to the developers, this increases the download speed by 70%. [3]
