Content
White Correction
Any move of the white piece creates a threat, but Black has a refutation; Accurate playing with a white piece provides an answer to this defense of Black.
Black Correction
Fending off the white threat (or being in the zugzwang ), by any move of his piece, black allows a new possibility of declaring himself a mat (the so-called repeated threat ), so they play more accurately, fending off and the repeated threat; at the same time, White uses the admitted new weakening of Black's position.
History
The subject of correction was studied in the 1930s by L. N. Gugel under the name "continued protection".
