Description
Appearance
The tortoise is medium-sized, its shell is about 25 cm long. The carapace is oval in shape, dome-shaped. His carapace is black or dark brown. From the center of each vertebral and costal shield, up to 6 yellow rays diverge, directed up and down. On the marginal flaps there are the same rays forming the letter V. The color of the skin on the head and legs is yellow. Yellow plastron with blackouts, forming a kind of rays. At the tip of the tail is a large horny scale.
Distribution
Endemic of Burma . It occurs from north to south to Moulmein in the state of Tenasserim .
Inhabits rainforests
Nutrition
Herbivorous.
Reproduction
They lay their eggs in late February. Egg size 55 by 40 mm.
Burmese Turtle and Man
Rare throughout the island due to habitat destruction and overfishing. Locals eat it, and shells are used to store various liquids.
