History

The university traces its history to the Busan College of Foreign Languages, founded in April 1982 by the late Dr. Chung Teson, the founder of Sungchang Enterprise Holdings (Sonchkhan Enterprise Holdings). His philosophy of education is based on Christian values ​​and the desire to provide young intellectuals with opportunities to realize their leadership potential and take their rightful place at the international level.

The first students studied English , French , Japanese , Chinese , German , Indonesian , Malay and Thai . In the 1980s, the college significantly expanded the number of curricula, and in 1991 received university status. As of 2009, agreements on academic exchange programs were concluded with 94 universities from 24 countries.

Education

The Busan University of Foreign Languages ​​consists of 7 institutes, 4 postgraduate programs, as well as 9 research institutes. The linguistic part of the university includes the Institute of European Studies and American Studies and the Institute of Oriental Studies.

In addition to English, it is possible to study other European languages: French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and German. Oriental languages ​​are represented in the curricula of Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malay, Burmese, Hindi, Arabic, Turkish, Kazakh, Uzbek, Tagalog, Lao and Khmer. There are special training programs for those who seek to learn Korean and Korean studies.

The university also includes the Institute of Commerce and Business, the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Institute of Natural Sciences and Engineering. In addition to language, there are training programs in international research, international law, international business and information technology .
