History
In the place of a real church with the main throne in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos in the 17th century, stood Pyatnitskaya church. This is evident from the fact that in the books of the patriarchal state order the Pyatnitskaya church is first mentioned, and then the Pokrovskaya church is listed in the same place, and both of these names alternate, obviously, because they are equivalent.
In 1628, in the patriarchal salary books it was written: "The Church of the Holy Martyrs of Christ of Friday, at Posad, give seven money, a ten-hryvnia hryvnia." In the scribal books of 1653 at this church there is a court of priests and in the parish there are 39 courtyards. In 1659, a new church was built here, which was already consecrated in honor of the Protection of the Holy Virgin. By 1730, the church of the Holy Great Martyr Friday was dilapidated, the floors in it all went down and it became impossible to serve. Therefore, parishioners were allowed to build a new church, which was then consecrated by the abbot of the Borisoglebsky monastery Pakhomiy.
In 1789 , instead of the formerly wooden church, at the expense of the secretary of the district court D. Tolsky and the merchant P. Bykov, a stone church was built, which exists at the present time. He was sanctified on an anti-mine taken from the abolished Peter and Paul Church. The external appearance of the temple without significant changes is preserved until now.
There are currently two thrones in the church: in the cold in honor of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, in the warm aisle in honor of the Entry into the church of the Most Holy Theotokos . [one]
The Church of the Intercession is the only city church that was not closed in the city during the Soviet era, and where services were not interrupted, as well as the only church built in the "Moscow Baroque" style.
The main shrine of the temple is an old list with the miraculous icon of the Mother of God of God [2] .
