Tourism in the Republic of San Marino is a very important component of the country's economy , tourism accounts for more than 50% of all GDP [1] . On average, about three million tourists visit San Marino per year, [2] although in the last decade there has been a decline in tourist activity per 100 thousand people per year [3] .
The main part of the tourists are Italian citizens who come to rest on the Adriatic coast and take excursions to San Marino [4] .
The organization of tourism in the country is handled by the State Secretariat for Tourism ( Italian: Segreteria di Stato per il Turismo ).
