Vafa Mirzaaga oglu Guluzade ( azerb. Vəfa Mirzəağa oğlu Quluzadə ; December 21, 1940 - May 1, 2015 ) is an orientalist-Arabist, diplomat, political scientist, former State Councilor of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Foreign Relations, president of the Fund for Political Studies of the Caspian region.

Biography
Born in Baku .
Father - Mirzaaga Guluzade, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR , literary critic, orientalist.
Mother - Yagut Dilbazi, writer, literary critic of Azerbaijani and Turkish literature.
- In 1963 he graduated from the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Azerbaijan State University (now Baku State University).
He worked as an editor and presenter of Arabic programs in Baku radio.
- In 1962 - 1964 he continued his education at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences , defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of philological sciences.
- In 1970 - 1973 he worked in Egypt at the Embassy of the USSR, where he went from an attache to the 2nd secretary of the embassy.
- In 1973 , he returned to Azerbaijan and began working in the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan, where he went from instructor to head of the department of culture. During these years he graduated from the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the CPSU.
- From 1987 to 1990 - at diplomatic work at the USSR Embassy in Algeria as an adviser.
- In 1990, he accepted the proposal of the first president of Azerbaijan, Ayaz Mutalibov, to take the post of state adviser on foreign policy issues. In this post, he remained with two subsequent presidents of the country - Abulfaz Elchibey and Heydar Aliyev . Until the end of 1990, he was a member of the Security Council of Azerbaijan.
In 1999, he created the Fund for Political Studies of the States of the Caspian Region. Henry Kissinger , Zbigniew Brzezinski and James Baker became members of the Council of Chairpersons of this Fund.
In addition to Azerbaijani , V. Guluzade was fluent in Russian, Arabic, English, Turkish, and conversational Farsi.
In his dossier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR says: "extremely sociable, knows how to establish trusting relationships with the highest circles of the host country." [one]
He was married to Leila Akhmedova, a music teacher, had a daughter and a son, a grandson and three granddaughters.
