Vasily Nikolayevich Eroshenko ( December 31 [1] 1907 - May 6, 1972 , buried at the Serafimovskoye cemetery in St. Petersburg) is the commander of a number of ships of the Black Sea Fleet , the most famous of which is the leader of Tashkent . Rear Admiral of the Soviet Navy ( May 31, 1954 ). By nationality - Russian [2] .

V.N. Eroshenko was born in the family of a railway employee at the station Ekaterinodar . He graduated from the road construction college, from October 1926 to May 1, 1930 he studied at the Naval College named after M.V. Frunze , after which he was appointed to serve on the Black Sea . After arriving at the duty station, he was assigned to the battleship “ Paris Commune ”, where he initially served as an assistant to the watch commander , and then for a year and a half as a rangefinder specialist [3] . Then he served as a rangefinder specialist at the Paris Commune, was a navigator, assistant commander and interim commander on the gunboat Red Adjaristan. In March 1937 , with the rank of senior lieutenant, he was appointed commander of the minesweeper "Cargo" , which he commanded for about a year [3] , until December 1937. Later he was the commander of the destroyer "Shaumyan" , with the rank of captain-lieutenant - the commander of the leader "Moscow" . From June 1941 to July 1942 he commanded the leader of Tashkent . For the difference in the defense of Odessa, he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner. For valor and courage shown during the defense of Sevastopol, the captain of the 2nd rank Eroshenko was awarded the Order of Lenin in July 1942. The next ship, commanded by V. N. Eroshenko, was the cruiser "Red Caucasus" . On November 3, 1944, for 18 years of service in the Navy of the Guard, Captain 1st Rank Eroshenko was awarded the Order of the Red Star.
