The total length is about 17 cm; however, individuals up to 21 cm long are described. Males are smaller than females and have a shorter tail. The front and hind limbs are almost the same length. The skin is rough, covered with numerous wart-like formations. Similar large formations on the sides form ridges. The skin color of the back is olive brown, sometimes there may be a combination of lighter and darker areas. Some representatives of the species along the spine have a long light strip. The color of the abdomen is bright, consists of large, unevenly distributed orange-red spots that continue up to the tip of the snout. Males have fewer spots than females. In addition, during the mating season, the tail of males acquires a silver-blue sheen.
