Ormeli, Vladimir Yuryevich

Vladimir Yurievich Ormeli (born July 23, 1951 , Simferopol ) is a Ukrainian and Russian public figure, chairman of the Crimean Karaites Association “Krymkaraylar” (2001-2013) [1] , honorary chairman of the Regional Crimean Karaites Autonomous Republic of Crimea Public Organization " [2] [3] . Honored Worker of Culture of Crimea (2004) [4] and Ukraine (2006) [5] .

Biography

Vladimir Yurievich Ormeli was born on July 23, 1951 in Simferopol into a Karaite family. From 1967 to 1968 he worked as a locksmith and milling machine operator at the Simferopol rebar plant, in 1971 - 1973 he was the head of the film studio of the Culture House of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Crimean Executive Committee of the Crimea [6] . Since 1973, he has been working as a laboratory assistant, head of a photo laboratory, then as a senior inspector of the Fiolent plant regime service [6] . In 1980, he graduated from the Faculty of History of Frunze Simferopol State University with a degree in history teacher [6] .

Community Activities

Since the formation of the Association of Crimean Karaites, Krymkaraylar has been an active member of it. On July 7, 2001, he was elected Chairman of the Association of Crimean Karaites of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea [5] , and in 2005 at the same time as Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Association of Crimean Karaites [5] . In 2003, at the Congress of Crimean Karaites, he was elected a member of the Supreme Council of Crimean Karaites of Ukraine, and in 2007 its chairman [6] . At the reporting and re-election conferences held in Simferopol on January 30, 2011 , Vladimir Ormeli was re-elected as the chairman of the Crimean Karaite Association “Krymkaraylar” and the chairman of the All-Ukrainian Association of Crimean Karaites “Krymkaraylar” [7] . On April 28, 2013 , at the reporting and re-election conference of the Krymkarailar Association, V. Yu. Ormeli was elected its Honorary Chairman. The conference delegates elected I. Kalfa to replace the chairman [1] .

Since 2006 , V. Yu. Ormeli - Advisor to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea [8] , member of the Council for Human Security and Development under the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea [9] . Member of the Interethnic and Public Humanitarian Councils under the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea [10] [11] , a working group on the organization of a permanent “round table” to discuss current issues in the field of interethnic relations in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea [12] . He was a member of the organizing committees for the preparation and holding of the II International festival of Crimean Tatar and Turkic cultures "Gezlev kapusy - Eastern Bazaar" in 2005 [13] and for the I International Ethnographic Festival "Karai Gather Friends" in 2007 [14] . He was a member of the working group on the study of issues related to the restoration of the historical toponymy of Crimea [15] .

By a decision of the Presidium of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea dated March 21, 2014 V. Yu. Ormeli became a member of the Constitutional Commission of the Republic of Crimea on the preparation of a draft Constitution of the Republic of Crimea [16] .

Rewards

In 2002, he was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea “for his contribution to the development of national cultures, the strengthening of interethnic harmony in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and in connection with the celebration of the Unity of Ukraine” [17] . He has an honorary badge of the State Committee of Nationalities and Migration “For a special significant contribution to strengthening peace and national harmony in Ukraine” ( 2005 ), an honorary badge of the Ministry of Culture “For achievements in the development of culture and art”, and the distinction of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea “For fidelity to duty” (2012 ) [18] . At the Fiolent plant, he was repeatedly marked with letters of appreciation, including the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (2001), thanks to the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea, and was listed on the Alley of the Best Workers in the Book of Honor [5] . By the decree of the President of Ukraine dated June 26, 2006 he was awarded the title “Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine” [19] . By presidential decree of January 20, 2010 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the III degree [20] . On December 4, 2012 , he became a laureate of the Crimea Autonomous Republic Award in the nomination “Contribution to the Peacekeeping Activity, Development and Prosperity of Crimea” [21] .

Family

Father - Yuri Ezrovich Ormeli, physics teacher. Mother - Tatyana Alekseevna Shapshal, a doctor , granddaughter of a niece S. M. Shapshal (currently both have died) [6] [22] . Sister - Lidia Yurievna Ormeli. Wife - Annushka Zakharovna Mkrtchyan, Armenian. They have two children - a daughter, Tatyana, born in 1975, and a son, Yuri, born in 1977 [6] .
