They inherited the condition of the patricians of Arese and one of the branches of the Visconti clan and in memory of this took the triple surname Litta Visconti Arese ( Litta Visconti Arese ). She gave the Catholic Church several cardinals, including the diplomat Lorenzo Litt (1756-1820).
The Litta family belonged to one of the most beautiful palaces in Milan on the street Magento (heritage of the Arese clan) and the “ Madonna Litta ”, which is considered the work of Leonardo da Vinci .
The historian Pompeo Litta (1781-1852) owned in Lombardy such estates as the Villa Menafoglio near Varese and the Palazzo Brentano in Corbetta .

- Count Pompeo Litta (1781-1852) - Italian historian, under Napoleon I served in the French army. His main work, continued after his death by another person, was Famiglie celebri italiane (163 issue, from 1819 to 82), the history of 75 famous Italian noble families. During the revolution of 1848, he was Minister of War of the Provisional Government of Milan, then General of the National Guard of Milan.
