An example (also a paradigm ) is a concept considered in rhetoric . For Quintilian, the example is one of the complementary, visual arguments for the statement, or the mention of a useful, real or supposedly existing model of conviction that you have one . True, unlike evidence, the connection with the subject of discussion must be established first by the author or speaker .
Rhetoric distinguishes between three types of examples:
- an example from the present, that is, from the contemporary context;
- an example from the story ;
- poetic example. So, in Freiligratt 's poem “Hamlet” of 1844 , beginning with the line Germany - this is Hamlet , the indecisive Hamlet is compared with the political situation of the pre-March period of Germany .
