History
The plant was founded in 1869 as a locomotive workshop in the Moscow-Kursk Railway . In 1924, the workshops were reorganized into car repair workshops, and in 1930, into a mechanical plant. Since 1936, the plant became known as engineering, and since 1957, the Tula Railway Engineering Plant.
At the beginning of World War II, the plant produced defense products (mines, track destroyers , guns on railway platforms). After the evacuation in 1941 to Zlatoust and Tashkent, a group of the remaining workers made forgings for an arms factory. The production of mine trawls for T-34 tanks was mastered.
