Type "Gothenburg" ( Swede. Göteborgsklass ) - a series of Swedish small corvettes . They were created as a further development of Stockholm-type corvettes and were intended to replace the last remaining Spika torpedo boats in service. Like their predecessors, the Gothenburg-type corvettes are a development of the Swedish missile boat line and are intended primarily to deal with surface ships, while also being able to carry out missile defense tasks. In total, from 1987 to 1993 , four ships of this type were built at the shipyards of Karlskronavarvet ; It was proposed to build two more, but no order for them followed. During the service, ships of this type underwent modernization, which consisted in reducing their effective dispersion area . With the start of the commissioning of more modern Visby corvettes , as of 2009 , two of the Gothenburg corvettes were put into reserve, while the other two remained in service.
