History
Hockey club was founded in the 60s of the XX century . The first hockey team was based on the Prokopyevsky Mining College , the team was headed by Valery Yudelis . The debut of the ice squad took place in the season 1963-1964 . in class “B”, in the season 1965-1966 , HC “Shakhtar” wins a ticket to class “A”. Gradually gaining experience, Shakhtar will finish second in their fourth season in Class A, missing only Alma-Ata Avtomobilist. Fans had to wait eight successes for the next success: 1976-1977 - 3rd place, losing the first two to pretty strong the teams - Metallurg from Chelyabinsk to the neighbors of Novokuznechans . The next season, the team in a bitter struggle is ahead of the Novokuznezhnians by 2 points, takes second place for Omsk Shinnik, and with it a ticket to the first class A league.
Prokopyevsky Shakhtar in the first league played with varying success until 1997. In 1999, the reconstructed ice arena of the sports complex and the team’s efforts ensured Shakhtar’s entry into the Premier League , where the team played 2 failed seasons in last place. The team includes both young athletes and experienced players, pupils of the Prokopyevskaya Youth Sports School No. 1 hockey department. In 2013, due to financial problems, the club decided to move to the Siberian Student Hockey League.
