Zheleznov Manor

Zheleznova Manor was built in the pseudo-Russian style at the end of the 19th century ( 1892 - 1895 ) by the Yekaterinburg architect Dyutel (according to other sources, A. B. Turchevich [1] ). The name of the customer is unknown - Aleksey Anfinogenovich Zheleznov acquired the estate later; at least, there is no evidence of his moving to Zlatoustovskaya street before 1907 . Some of the details of the building, made of brick, create a semblance of wooden carving. The house looks like a Russian tower made of red (“pood”) brick, reminiscent of the merchant house of N. V. Igumnov on Bolshaya Yakimanka by the work of the Yaroslavl architect N. Pozdeev .

The composition of the manor complex includes the main house with an outbuilding, a courtyard and a wide fence with gates. At the end of the XIX century there was a rich garden with a marble fountain, descending to the river. Now the garden is overgrown, the fountain is not working. The estate is included in the list of cultural heritage located on the territory of the municipality of the city of Yekaterinburg. [2] Before the revolution, the house belonged to A. A. Zheleznov, a wealthy businessman who made a fortune in gold mining, as well as trade in gunpowder and dynamite . Zheleznov was an avid horse lover and an excellent rider, he headed the society of horse farmers in Yekaterinburg , he participated in races in Yekaterinburg, Tyumen and even in St. Petersburg . After the revolution, the house changed owners several times: at first it was occupied by anarchists, then a military unit was formed, then the building was taken over by the People's Commissariat for Education, it had school number 93 for children with musculoskeletal disorders and hearing impairment. During the Great Patriotic War, the P.K. State Astronomical Institute was evacuated to Zheleznov’s house. Sternberg (GAI). In the cellars of the building, behind a meter and a half brick walls far from transport highways, the chronometers of the Precision Time Service were located, which was then led by M. S. Zverev. In the post-war period, the building was again transferred to public education - until the creation of the Institute of History and Archeology.

In 1988—2013. the building housed the Institute of History and Archeology of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences [3] .

On January 17, 2018, an order was signed on the transfer to the concession of an architectural monument of regional significance for the purpose of reconstruction and the creation of a boutique hotel . The concessionaire is StroyInvest. The development of the project in the Sverdlovsk region and the preparation of the concession agreement were carried out by the PPP Competence Center created at the Middle Urals Development Corporation [4] .

The estate of A. A. Zheleznov is located at Rosa Luxemburg Street (until 1919 - Zlatoustovskaya Street), 56.
