General Information

Sabina began to play tennis at the age of seven, when her parents brought her to the tennis section (her father still helps her in the training process); the best element of the game is the pitch.
Sports career
- Early years
In her junior years, Lissitzky did not achieve particularly significant success: in the senior round she was able to get only to the place in the top hundred of the rating, and her most significant success in major tournaments of the series was in the single prize of Eddie Herr International in 2005, where the German got to the semifinals, having outplayed Carolina Wozniacki and Alexander Dulger . Shortly afterwards - at only 16 years old - Sabina focused on her performances in the adult tour.
The German debut in protest took place a little earlier - in 2004, she held her first matches in the European 10-thousanders and achieved her first final at a similar level - in pairs. A year later, Lissitzky already tried to play larger tournaments and several times even noted in the qualification of WTA tournaments , where her management was able to get special invitations. Gradually, Sabina gained experience in games at a similar level and although she did not show particularly stable results, but over and over again she could give out good games in matches with players from the first hundred of the rating, with whom she sometimes managed to meet, and in May 2006 she won the first victory - in the selection of the tournament in Istanbul passing Christina Brandi .
In 2007, the German woman noticeably stabilized her performances, having visited four singles finals at once in a year (three times at 25 thousandths and once at 50thousand thousand) and for Australian Open 2008 she was able to get a sufficient rating to play in qualification for the first time Grand Slam tournaments. The chance was successfully realized - Sabina passed the selection with minimal problems, and then won two matches in the main draw, simultaneously knocking out Dinara Safina , who was sixteen sown there. Then the German continued to play the WTA tournament qualifications, and in March she successfully used the special invitation to the main draw of a major tournament in Miami , making her way into the fourth round and knocking out the fifth racket of the tournament - Anna Chakvetadze . Over the next few months, Sabina continued to strengthen her rating little by little, and in the fall she managed to visit the finals of the WTA tournament for the first time: in a small tournament in Tashkent , where she beat Peng Shuai in the semifinals, but in the match for the title she was weaker than Sorana Kirsti . The growth in stability that year turned out to be so great that over the season Lissitzky improved her rating by 183 positions, entering Top60.
A year later, gradual progress continued - Sabina was able to defend her last year's conquests and by the US Open fell into the group of seeded participants, entering the Top30. At the beginning of the season, a series of tournaments in the USA was successfully played, where the German was noted in the semifinal of the tournament in Memphis , beating Lucia Shafarzova , soon - during the dirt series - the first title came: Lissitzky became the strongest in the tournament in Charleston , successively being stronger than the three seeded participants - Venus Williams , Marion Bartoli and Carolina Wozniacki . The next European unpaved season went without any serious success, but Sabina again reached the peak of readiness, having reached the first quarterfinal at the Grand Slam tournaments on British courts and depriving the local competition of two Top10 players - the same Wozniacki and Svetlana Kuznetsova . Until the end of the season, the German woman once again visited the finals of the solo competition of the association - in Luxembourg , losing the title to Timaea Bachinski .
- 2009-12
More and more matches at the elite level began to gradually affect the health of Lissitzky, who from the end of 2009 began to receive various injuries more often - the ankle turned out to be the weak spot: the first problems appeared at US Open-2009 , where Sabina unsuccessfully fell in the last draw of the match against Anastasia Rodionova , and after repeating the problems in two tournaments in March 2010, the German woman paused for five months in her performances. Returning to the tour, for a long time she could not return to the previous quality of results, dropping into the third hundred rating. The first changes for the better began only during the spring soil season of 2011, when Lisicki first beat Marion Bartoli (in Charleston ), and then Li Na (in Stuttgart ). Failures alone allowed them to play more in doubles - in the same Baden-Württemberg competition, Lisicki won her first pair title in the protest, playing in a duet with Samantha Stosur .
At the end of May, the German woman qualified for the Grand Slam tournament on the second attempt - having overcome the selection at Roland Garros ; and then several super-successful weeks were spent during the grass season: Sabina first won her second WTA title (in Birmingham ), and then for two weeks played equally well the single and double prize at Wimbledon , eventually reaching the semi-finals in the first (in passing, having beaten Li Na and Marion Bartoli ) and the title match in the second (the alliance with Stosur, among others, prevailed over the Shvedov / King and Petrov / Rodionov pairs). In the summer, the successful series continued - Lissitzky reached the semifinals at Stanford and the quarter finals at Carlsbad , and after a short pause she won the second title of the season (in Grapevine , giving only 13 games to her rivals in five matches). The shock segment was completed in the fourth round at the US Open . In the fall, it was not possible to show special results, but a series of summer successes in the end allowed the German woman not only to regain all the lost positions, but also to complete the year for the first time in Top20.
The next season was less bright, and quite frequent unsuccessful games did not allow Lisicki to stay in Top32. In January, Sabina scored in the fourth round of the Australian Open , in March reached the same stage in a major tournament in Miami , and in June she again had a good Wimbledon - this time reaching the quarterfinals. In the summer, Sabina stopped a step from the Olympic medal - playing the mixed-pair tournament, she and Christopher Kas got to the semifinals, but lost both of their games for the medals - first to the Murray / Robson pair, and then to Raymond / Mike Brian . In the remaining period of the season, the paired results prevailed over the singles - in August, the German, along with Peng Shuai, reached the quarter finals at the Rogers Cup and US Open , and in September, along with the same Raymond, she marked herself in the semi-finals in Tokyo .
- 2013-14
In 2013, I managed to add as results: Lissitzky returned to the Top20, playing in the course of the season in three finals at once. Participation in three title matches, however, did not bring a single victory - in February Sabina first lost to Maria Kirilenko in Pattaya , and then starred in the same stage in Memphis , winning only one of the first seven games from Marina Erakovich . March was not very successful, but in April the German again played the hall tournament in Stuttgart , reaching the quarterfinals in the singles competition and defending the title in pairs (now with Mona Barthel ). In May - June, Lissitzki played a series of competitions on the ground and grass without much brilliance, reaching the peak of readiness at Wimbledon , where this time Sabina reached the title match of the single tournament, beating Serena Williams and Agnieszka Radwanska and losing to Marion Bartoli . The summer hard season was in an attempt to solve small problems with the wrist [4] and again return to perfect readiness. Most of the tournaments were unsuccessful, and only at the end of the year the German was noted in the semifinals at the competition in Luxembourg .
Problems with readiness led to permutations in the coaching staff: in 2014, Sabina tried to work with Martina Hingis [5] ; This move did not give a quick result, and local health problems continued [6] . The alliance benefited in March, when Europeans tried to play Sabina together in a bunch of American super tournaments to increase Sabina's playing practice: in Indian Wells they lost already at the start, but then they won the title in Miami , defeating Elena Vesnina and Ekaterina Makarova in the decisive match. After working together until mid-June, Martina and Sabina decided to leave, although in the future they played a couple more times. [7] The change of coach led to a local surge in the results: at Wimbledon, Lissitzky made her way to the quarterfinals of the single competition for the first time in a long time, and later improved the stability of her performances; in September, for the first time in three years, they managed to win a single title in an association competition - the German became the strongest in the competition in Hong Kong , having managed in the final with Karolina Plishkova .
- 2015
The failures of the first half of the 2014 season were partially offset by a year later: January brought the doubles title in Brisbane , March - the semifinals and quarterfinals at the individual competitions in Indian Wells and Miami , points for which returned Sabina to Top20.
2018
At the Taiwan Open Tennis Championships in early February, the German athlete reached the semifinals, where she lost to Katerina Kozlova, a Ukrainian [8] .
- Team appearances
In the wake of the first major successes in the adult tour, Lissitzky began to attract Germany to various national teams: since 2008, she regularly plays for the team in the Federation Cup , balancing with it on the verge of the first and second world groups of the tournament. Sabina celebrated her debut in this competition with a victory over Lindsay Davenport - in the German quarter-finals of the tournament. Lissitzky also included two participation in the ITF World Cup among mixed couples - the Hopman Cup : in 2009 and 2010 the Germans finished their performances already in the group stage, and Nicolas Kiefer and Philippe Kolschreiber acted as Sabina's partners.
