Å , å ( A with a circle ) - an extended Latin letter used in Norwegian , Swedish , Danish , Faroese , Finnish , (only when writing Swedish , Danish and Norwegian proper names), North Frisian , Walloon , Chamorro and Istro-Romanian alphabets , sometimes when writing texts in the South German dialects , as well as in the alphabets of the Lule-Sami , Colt-Sami and South Sami languages.

Usage
In Scandinavian languages, the letter has a short and long pronunciation. The short pronunciation is [ ɔ ]. Long pronunciation in Swedish and Norwegian is [ o ː ], in Danish is [[ ː ]. Historically pronounced as [ a ː ]. However, in Danish and Norwegian, the letter is used together with aa .
In the Istro-Romanian language, the letter is read as [ɔ].
In some Finno-Ugric languages, the letter has a similar pronunciation, in Finnish it means the sound / oː / and is used only when writing Swedish proper names.
