Roxanne Saberi ( Persian رکسانا صابری , born 1977) is a US - Iranian journalist [1] who was arrested in Iran in February 2009 [2] , initially on charges of buying a bottle of wine, which is prohibited by Muslim law. She was accused of working without accreditation; the journalist’s certificate was canceled in 2006; On April 8, 2009, the Iranian government accused Saber of espionage. [3] The journalist was sentenced to eight years in prison on May 11, 2009. The Court of Appeal changed the reason for her accusation to steal secret information [4] , which she also denies [5] [6] , and commuted her sentence to 2 years on probation [7] [8] . In conclusion, she spent a total of 100 days [9] ; she currently continues to write articles on the Middle East and Iran [10] [11] .

After her release, Roxanne wrote the book Between Two Worlds: My Life and Captivity in Iran (Eng. Between Two Worlds: My Life and Imprisonment in Iran), which was published by HarperCollins on March 30, 2010 [12] [13] and in 2011 year translated into German [14] . She also repeatedly defended Iranian “prisoners of conscience” [15] and Iranians detained after the 2009 presidential election in the country [16] .
Saber’s awards include the Medal of Courage Medal she received in 2008 [17] , the 2009 Hilaria Alpi Press Freedom Prize [18] , the Valor Award from the 2009 National University Sports Association [19] and the Middle East Democracy Project Award East 2010 [20] . Since 2013 he has been working at Al Jazeera America.
She won the Miss North Dakota Regional Competition in 1997 [21] .
