Theater History

The theater was created in 1959 with the merger of amateur theater groups of the park of culture and rest named after Lenin and the port refrigerator club. The leadership was taken by the actress Vera Korchan, the first production was the play "On the personal" based on the play by V. I. Pistolenko [1] . Around the same time, a theater palace was built in the center of Novorossiysk, capable of accommodating approximately 900 spectators, in which the new troupe settled (there were no professional theater groups in the city) [2] [3] . Soon the amateur theater was awarded the title of folk .

In the mid-1960s, the theater was headed by a new director Pavel Egorovich Shirshov. In 1965, his production of The Man with a Gun (based on the play by N. Pogodin) [4] was shown on the stage of the Kremlin Theater in Moscow as part of the second review of the folk theaters of the RSFSR [5] .

From 1967 to 1999, the theater was directed by a professional director Vladimir Petrovich Amerbekyan (1929-1999) [6] . His successor was the actor and director Eugene Kushpel.

At the end of 2014, the theater acquired a professional status, which, according to the director of the theater E. Kushpel, entails the formation of the corresponding troupe and will help accelerate the process of finding its own building (several creative groups are located in the current palace) [7] .
