Biography

Born September 17, 1977 in the French colony of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon in the family of a Korean father and a French mother. There are two younger brothers, Thomas Kahn and the youngest of the three, Julien Kahn, a South Korean actor and model.

The Kahn family immigrated to Canada in 1988 , and settled in Vancouver . Then Denis began to engage in wrestling. In parallel with wrestling training, Denis studied hapkido under the guidance of the Wolf brothers.

This continued until 1997 , when the future coach and mentor of Denis, Marcus Sores, came to Vancouver. Sorez opened a school of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the city, and Kang became one of his first students at the Carlson Gacy Academy [2] . Currently, Denis remains under the care of Sores.

Under the direction of Sorez, Denis studied wrestling grapples, and later showed great interest in martial arts of a mixed style. Under the guidance of the same Sorez, he began to prepare for professional fights. His first professional appearance was a fight organized on August 2, 1998 at an industrial warehouse in Richmond , British Columbia . Kahn defeated Eric Harcrow from the United States with a stranglehold held during the first 15 seconds of the fight. [2]

After that, Denis traveled around the world, speaking at events such as Pankration , Extreme Challenge, IFC and M-1.

In 2004 , Marcus Sores gave Denis a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. To develop his boxing skills, Denis works with Howard Davis Jr. , champion of the 1976 Summer Olympics in second lightweight boxing (60 kg), who also trains other members of the American Top Team and former UFC Champion Chuck Liddell .

On April 4 (3rd Canadian time), 2005, Denis Kahn’s first fight in PRIDE FC (PRIDE Bushido 6) took place, in which he defeated Japanese Takihiro Oba.
