Biography
Born in the family of a soldier . By nationality - Russian. In 1981 he graduated from high school in Vladivostok , before being drafted into the army, he worked at a cable factory in the city of Prokhladny ( Kabardino-Balkarian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic ). From 1986 to 1991 at the Komsomol work. During this period of his life, a group of like-minded people formed in 1997 who formed the left-wing underground organization “ Revolutionary Military Council ”. In August 1991, in Moscow, he participated in the preparation of an armed opposition to the President of the RSFSR B.N. Yeltsin . In December 1992 he was arrested, convicted of hooliganism and arbitrariness, and served 3 years in prison. In May 1996, he was elected Chairman of the Council of the All-Russian Public Organization "Youth Housing Complex" - MZHK RF. In the same year, he headed the Moscow youth headquarters for the election of G. A. Zyuganov as the president of Russia. In 1996-1997 , he was the editor of the newspaper Young Communist.
In August 1997, he was arrested on charges of preparing to overthrow the constitutional system of the Russian Federation, leading the criminal community of the Revolutionary Military Council and terrorism . Until January 2000 he was detained at Lefortovo . After being released due to the detention period during the investigation from January 2000 to July 2001, he worked in the Committee for the Protection of Political Prisoners and edited the newspaper “Council of Workers' Deputies”. In July 2001, arrested on murder charges . In November 2002, the Leninsky District Court of Vladivostok sentenced Gubkin to 14 years of high security. In August 2006, the Moscow City Court determined the general term of imprisonment on charges of terrorism, murder, fraud, arms trafficking, the manufacture of explosive devices at 17 years of age with serving in a maximum security colony. He served his sentence in Primorsky Krai in IK-22 (until September 2010) and in IK-33. He was recognized as a malicious violator of the detention regime, received more than 20 penalties, was sent for a period of 1 year to the EPCT, in total, he served more than 10 years in cell conditions, including in solitary confinement. He was released at the end of the sentence on December 22, 2015.
With the permission of the colony administration, he shot the films “Choice”, “Self-defense without weapons”, which describe the conditions for serving a sentence in the Russian Federation. Eduard Limonov praised Gubkin as follows: “Does anyone remember the magnificent and brave Igor Gubkin, the young left-wing communist leader who is serving a 17-year term? I remember and honor him. I knew him and am proud of it. I knew his mother and say hello to her. Hang on, the worst time ever ends ” [1] .
