Story
The action takes place in the IX century in pagan times, on lands that today are Poland . Each Slavic tribe worships its own gods. The cruel prince of the Western glades Popel II and his treacherous wife, a former slave, are doing everything possible to transfer the title to their son (to which he has no right). The governor of Popel's squad, Pyastun, fed up with the intrigues and stiffness of his ruler, leaves him.
Popel longs for revenge and sends his people to find and kill, but Piastun is saved thanks to a young warrior, Zemovit . Zemovit lived for a long time with the Vikings and only recently returned to his homeland. He falls in love with the beautiful Dziva, daughter of Visha (one of Popel's vassals). Zemovit wants to get married, but the fate of Dziva is a foregone conclusion - by the will of her father, she should become a priestess in the local sanctuary ...
