Content
History
In the era of the Three Kingdoms, the territory of modern Inje was the area of Chodzhok (Chodzhokhyun), which is part of the state of Goguryeo . The first mention of Chojok dates back to 37 BC. e. After these lands came under the control of Silla , the name was changed to Hvije (Hvijekhyun). Hvije existed until the end of the XIX century , after which, in 1895, the name was changed to Inje. On August 4, 1896, Inje was given the status of county (kun). In October 1906, Kirinmyeon, a district of Chungcheong County, became part of Inje. The Kirinmyeon also included the Nemyon and Nesamni districts that were previously part of Gangneung County. On November 17, 1954, another increase in Inge Square took place - Heanmyeon, formerly part of Yanggu and Sinnammyeon, formerly part of Hongcheon County, was included in its composition. [one]
Geography
Inje is located in the northern mountainous part of Gangwon-do Province. Borders on Sokcho , Yangyang and Koson in the east, Honcheon in the south and Yang in the west. In the north, the border passes through the Demilitarized Zone , which separates South Korea from the DPRK . The length of the county from north to south is 72.1 km, from west to east - 51.5 km. 90% of the territory occupied by the county is covered by forests . The area is predominantly mountainous, in Indje there are 20 mountains more than 800 meters high . For agriculture, land is of little use, only 5% of the territory is used for agricultural needs. Culture
A number of festivals take place in Inge:
- Ice Fishing Festival - takes place on the largest freshwater lake in the region, Soyankho , in winter. During the festival, various contests and games are held, such as bowling on ice, ice football, etc.
- Extreme Sports Festival - held annually in early August. The festival program includes competitions in motocross , rafting , mountain biking , paragliding and other extreme sports.
- Hapkan Folk Festival - held annually in early October and is dedicated to traditional Korean culture . Theatrical processions are held, ancient Korean rituals are played out, folklore groups perform. [one]
Tourism and Attractions
Natural:
- Techhonsan Peak is the highest peak of the Seoraksan Mountains (1708 m). Several hiking trails have been laid.
- Dragon Marsh on Mount Teamsan . The swamp on Mount Teamsan is protected by the state because of its unique nature. It is located at an altitude of 1280 m and is the highest in the country. In 1977, South Korea joined the Ramsar Agreement on the conservation of wetlands. Dragon Marsh entered the conservation list of this treaty from South Korea under the first number.
- Tesyn Waterfall - is one of the largest in the country (height 88 m). The surroundings of the waterfall served as the summer residence of the van of the Joseon Dynasty .
- Valley in the Pukmyeon area. From Korean, its name translates as "Valley of the Baths of the Twelve Angels." In this valley there is a cascade of waterfalls and small lakes. The total height of the cascade is 84 m. Famous Korean poets, such as Lee Yinsang , sang the beauty of this valley.
- Mineral springs Pandon. According to legend, they were discovered more than 300 years ago by a local peasant. He wandered here in search of ginseng root. After a long search, he found a huge root and, when he pulled it out, a source fired from the ground.
- Nerinchon Valley - many fast mountain rivers flow through this valley, so this place is popular with rafting enthusiasts.
Historical:
- The main historical place in the county is the Buddhist monastery of the 7th century Pektamsa .
- Hapganjon Pavilion. It was built at the beginning of the XVII century in Confucian traditions. Belonged to a local Confucian school. [one]
