Voronkov, Boris Grigorievich

Boris Grigorievich Voronkov ( September 12, 1923 , Moscow - September 4, 1976 , ibid.) - Soviet chess player , ICCF international master ( 1976 ), honored trainer of the RSFSR ( 1966 ). PhD in Economics. The author of articles on the theory and history of chess.

Member of World War II . He ended the war in Prague as commander of the motorcycle intelligence department of the 3rd Guards Tank Army. He was wounded twice. Received several awards. [one]

After the war he graduated from the Institute of National Economy. G.V. Plekhanov .

He participated in the semifinals of the 24th championship of the USSR (Tbilisi, 1956).

For many years he worked as a host of the TV show "Chess School". [one]

Son - a famous chess journalist S. B. Voronkov .
