Alexei Leonidovich Pazhitnov (born March 14, 1956 , Moscow ) is a Soviet Russian and American programmer , game designer , creator of the Tetris game.

Biography
He graduated from the Moscow Mathematical School No. 91 and the Moscow Aviation Institute .
He worked in the Computing Center of the USSR Academy of Sciences , dealt with the problems of artificial intelligence and speech recognition . In the same place, in 1984, he developed the famous Tetris game.
In 1988, with the support of the company Bullet-Proof Software, he organized the company AnimaTek (development of gaming software), and in 1991 moved with it to the United States .
In October 1996, he moved to Microsoft , where he was involved in the development of puzzles. Left Microsoft in 2005 .
In 1997, Computer Gaming World put Alexei Pazhitnov in fourth place on the list of the most influential people in the gaming industry [2] .
On August 18, 2005, WildSnake Software released the announcement [3] that Alexey Pazhitnov joins this company and begins to develop a new series of games.
March 7, 2007 was awarded the Game Developers Choice Awards First Penguin Award [4] .
June 24, 2009 was awarded the honorary LARA - Der Deutsche Games Award [5] .
Personal life
Pazhitnov’s son, Dmitry, died in a ski accident on Mount Rainier in 2017. [6] [7]
