Biography

He graduated from the University of Berlin , while studying music under the direction of Siegfried Den . In 1853 - 1857 . studied in Weimar with Franz Liszt , was one of his closest associates, in 1857 became the first performer of his Second Concert for Piano and Orchestra, which Liszt dedicated to Bronzart; according to Liszt himself, letters to his teacher were often signed by Hans II, recognizing his second place in relation to Hans von Bülow [1] . In 1861 , he married Ingeborg Stark, a pianist and composer who also studied with Liszt. He toured as a pianist in Paris and St. Petersburg .

In 1860 - 1862 conductor of the Euterpe-Konzerte orchestra in Leipzig . In 1865 - 1867 He headed the Berlin Society of Friends of Music, replacing Hans von Bülow , who highly valued Bronzart as one of the most significant figures of the Weimar composer school. In 1867 - 1887 Director General of the Royal Hanover Theaters, 1887 - 1895 held a similar position in Weimar.

Among Bronzart's works, Spring Fantasy ( German Frühlings-Fantasie ) for the orchestra and piano concerto ( 1873 ), which was part of von Bülow's repertoire and was recorded much later by Michael Ponti , were popular. He also owns the opera Corsair, two symphonies, a piano trio, and various piano music.
