Black-spotted newt [1] ( Latin: Notophthalmus meridionalis ) is a caudate amphibian of the family of real salamanders living in eastern North America .

Content
Description
The length of the animals can reach 11 cm. The skin is smooth, olive-colored with numerous black spots. The belly is yellow in color.
Range
This species is the most western of the East American newts. The Mexican states of San Luis Potosi , Tamaulipas , Veracruz , Hidalgo and Puebla are inhabited . In the north, the species distribution zone reaches Texas (territories along the Gulf of Mexico ).
