The Scottish Green Party is a center-left, environmental and egalitarian party advocating Scottish independence. It was founded in 1979 as the Scottish Ecological Party . Member of the European Federation of Green Parties (EPF). Separated from the Green Party of England and Wales in 1990.

In his activities he is guided by the program “Towards Green Scotland”, adopted in 1990. He advocates the independence of Scotland. In the elections to the Scottish Parliament in 1999, she won 1 seat, in the 2003 elections she collected 6.9% of the vote and won 7 seats, in the 2007 and 2011 elections she was able to win 2 seats in parliament. In the 2016 Scottish Parliament elections, she collected 5% of the vote and won 6 seats. The party is completely independent, cooperates with other green parties in Britain and Ireland.
